What is a clootie? For starters, it is fun to say. Go ahead, say it. You know you want to. Clootie. Clootie-clootie-clootie-clootie-clootie. Wasn’t that fun? It is a Scot’s word for rag, piece of cloth or clothing used as a rag. A washcloth.
Wash yourself with it. Wash your face with it. Wash your dishes with it. Just wash something with it.
There is also a traditional Scottish dessert called a Clootie dumplin’. So named for the cloth in which it is cooked/boiled. You should try some!
In the case of Lippen Croft a clootie is a soft, hand crocheted, 100% cotton washcloth!
Sometimes we sell clooties in matching or coordinating sets, sometime we sell them as loners. Each of the individual clooties we sell is a unique, different via crochet pattern, color, or style. Please take into account screen colors may not always be exactly what the colors are. We will do our best to describe each one. We will do our best to please you; we only ask you to remember each hand crafted item is unique.
Our matching or coordinating clooties have been crocheted in the same pattern and will look alike as well as be the same size.
We make some that are a bit smaller and are the perfect size for a facial cloth or as a baby cloth The small clooties are 6″x6″ to about 7″x7″. The bigger sizes come out in the 9″x9″ or 10″x10″ range and are great as dishcloths or body cloths.
