I guess I could have left the standard test post up entitled “Hello, World” but I wrote my own hello. I am throwing this blog style back a little old school. Updated software of the times, but a bit retro (the aughts) on the theme function and design. I really do not like finding articles across the internet when I do a search and the date is not visible so the meta info will show. We are living in the Information Age and information changes so quickly; I find it important to have a date visible.
I do not plan to write daily. There is simply not enough time to run my business as a one woman show (develop recipes, test the recipes, make the products, create the labels, wrap and label the product, photograph the product, get it listed on the shop site, post on social media – which I am not good at, and them write a blog post). And all of that is the basics. Orders still have to be processed and packaged. Wholesale orders need to be created or finalized and delivered. Planning ahead and keeping up with seasonal supply orders is vital as soap takes about 6 weeks to be ready. All on top of the fact that I SQUIRREL! a little too often and I am still a mother and farmer with all those responsibilities as well.
My two youngest children are at the point in their lives ready to move out of the nest so to speak. They are each at a different stage of this but as a result of the changing needs in my household I will be leaving my full time job and throwing everything I have in to Lippen Croft. Would you like to come along for the ride as I scale up my product making and adjust our home life. I have one of my daughters at home full time as she has FOXG1 Syndrome and can never be alone. She is one of my biggest inspirations to make Lippen Croft a success.
So who am I? I am Rae. Mother of six, goatherd queen extraordinaire, top of the bird pecking order, boss of the dogs, and peasant allowed to live with the cats.We started with our chickens and goats and my soap making in 2013. It has been a wonderful 13 years of learning and growing and making. My plans for the blog are to write about what ingredients I use, the why’s, and the properties each ingredient offers to a product. I may write about general growing pains but hope there are more celebrations on growth than pains. I would love to have you along for the ride.
